The Total Eclipse of Your Dreams?

Do you remember having a passion for a cause and the “heat” to contribute something meaningful to the world before you died? Do you still feel the burn, or have you lost it to fill the emptiness with busyness?

Many Boomers have found their dreams eclipsed. They feel stuck in the darkness of endless obligations to children, houses, lifestyles, poor health, and financial stressors.Their passion has been covered by what they think they “should” or “can” do. Their
dreams are fizzling out.

Passion comes from deeply living our values. Have you thought about yours recently? One way to clarify those again is to stop and list the top five things you wanted to accomplish when you were a young adult. I had an exciting list! Get an advanced education and know more about one thing than anyone else (I did that), raise great kids in a loving home (I am still doing that); spread a skill about which I was passionate (with some others, I helped train mediators, get mediation in all the Courts in Kansas, and am now training coaches); sleep in the jungle and learn to surf a little (I did those); enjoy life and be healthy in heart and mind (I am doing this daily).

What was on your list of dreams and passions? Was it to save the planet? Was it to be loving and raise positive citizens? Was it to leave a business legacy to your children? Was it to learn to play the piano? Was it to race cars or jump from planes? Was it to have grandchildren? Was it to run for office?

If you have normal energy and health, you can still act on your dreams and passions. Do you have to get some things out of the way? If the fear of change is holding you back, or you don’t accept you have to let go of something to get something new, find some support and LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE!
